"“By designing with consistency you’ll learn how to create interfaces that encourage typical user behaviors.” The internet blogger and article writer Jake Rocheleau says this in his article on web design consistency titled How To Apply Consistency in Web Design. In his article he talks about various techniques and design choices you should use to be behavior patterns and trust among users. Some of the techniques that are worth mentioning include: user expectation, navigation, and layouts and styles."
"In regards to user expectation, Rocheleau talks about how users want to just act and click. That is why the designer needs to do the thinking for them. He explains that most expect the website you design to look a certain way. This is where creative thinking comes into play, as it is all about cleverness and usability. He says that the incorporation of known and proven techniques are essential when thinking about user behavior. With navigation, an important point that Rocheleau mentions is using a consistent style and multi-link menus are great for big sites and blogs, and using newer design ideas can be used but nothing to new. Also, when thinking about layouts and styles, Rocheleau says it is important that your goal is to “re-use similar elements all throughout the page, but with different content & graphics.”."
