Celery Bog Nature Area sits on the site of a once thriving vegetable farm. Now it serves as a refuge for native plants and animals. In addition to being a great place to spend time outside, it offers visitors a chance to learn about local ecosystems and conservation efforts.
The 105-acre wetland is home to a diverse ecosystem that includes prairie grasses, cattails, pond lilies, and woodlands. There are over 120 bird species that call the area home, including bald eagles, blue herons, and owls. Other creatures seen here include turtles, raccoons, muskrats, snakes, frogs, salamanders, fish, bats, and butterflies.
While exploring the bog, you'll also get a glimpse into the history of the land. Originally part of a larger farm, the property was sold to the city in 1926. Over the next several decades, it became known as Celery Bog.
In recent years, the city purchased the property to protect it from development. They've worked hard to restore the natural beauty of the land and make sure it stays open to the public.

Tippecanoe Battlefield is another national historic landmark located in Lafayette. This park commemorates the Battle Of Tippecanoe, which took place in 1811. Fairfield Lakes Park in the Greater Lafayette area features four scenic ponds, plus trails and picnic tables.
