Dear colleagues,
As spring quarter begins, I am pleased to share stories that reflect the breadth of what makes UC Irvine exceptional – research excellence, student achievement and community impact. This issue highlights seven faculty colleagues who have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and two professors being named Sloan Research Fellows.
In addition to faculty recognitions, you will find stories describing research that is impacting wireless connectivity, pointing the way to affordable childcare, and studying changes in our environment. Student milestones include our first-ever Schwarzman Scholar and a national award for the UC Irvine Chamber Singers.
I encourage you to read on and take pride in the achievements of our colleagues and students. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to our mission. I wish you a successful and fulfilling spring quarter.
