Dear colleagues,

As we continue to navigate shifting federal policies and ongoing campus budget challenges, I want to express my gratitude for your support of our students and your dedication to advancing the university's mission.

With the academic year coming to a close, I look forward to celebrating our students at their upcoming commencement ceremonies. I hope you will have an opportunity to join in recognizing the Class of 2025. I also invite you to attend the upcoming Service Awards on June 17 to recognize and thank our staff members for their years of dedicated service.

Several UC Irvine faculty members have received noteworthy recognitions this spring. Rina Dechter, Catherine Lord and Jennifer Martiny were elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences, Coleman Collins and Simon Huttegger received Guggenheim Fellowships, and David S. Meyer was named an Andrew Carnegie Fellow.

We also recently celebrated student achievements at the 20th annual Breakfast of Champions, hosted by the Scholarship Opportunities Program, honoring recipients, finalists, and honorable mentions for a range of scholarships and awards.

Dechter, Lord and Martiny Elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences

Three UC Irvine faculty have been elected to the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The 2025 class includes nearly 250 new members recognized for their accomplishments and leadership in academia, the arts, industry, policy, research and science. New members are nominated and elected to the academy by current members. UC Irvine now has 40 members of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. Below are the new members from UC Irvine:

Coleman Collins and Simon Huttegger Awarded Guggenheim Fellowships

Coleman Collins Simon Huttegger

Coleman Collins, Assistant Professor in the Department of Art, and Simon Huttegger, Chancellor's Professor in the Department of Logic and Philosophy of Science, have been awarded 2025 John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowships. Professors Collins and Huttegger are among 198 scientists and scholars that received the grants this year. UC Irvine now has 61 Guggenheim Fellows from various backgrounds and fields of study.

UC Irvine Among Top Universities for Student Access and Alumni Earnings

UC Irvine has been recognized as one of only three Association of American Universities institutions nationwide to receive the Higher Access, Higher Earnings designation in the 2025 Carnegie Student Access and Earnings Classification. Among all UC campuses, UC Irvine stands out for its unique approach that combines academic excellence with opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds.
