I calle the company to give me an estimate to repair my furnace, technician came took some pictures and told me that he came to quote a new system and the company needs to setup a technician for the repair. never called me back, I stayed at home for four hours waiting for nothing.

Wish I could give a ZERO rating but there is no option for that here. Please save your hard earned money! Spent 14k on a brand new heating and cooling system. Sales rep Mike will promise a world to you but neglects calling back. Our tenants have been out of heat for 2 WEEKS now! Mike confirmed service techs yesterday but cancelled the service appointment. This company is a total scam. We are looking into legal action.

This company had come into our home to replace our central air unit 2 years ago. The day they installed the new system, they damaged our ceiling. The owner, Bill, and his multiple managers kept telling us they definitely were fixing the damage they caused. They made us forward photos of the damage 4 different times. They sent a guy to repair it, he didn’t know how to do it. So we agreed that I would get quotes. I got two quotes. They were happy with one quote and agreed to pay us to use the company we found. Since then, the owner has told us that he mailed the check to pay for the repairs. He told us that on two separate occasions! Must’ve gotten lost he said. I advised them we never received the check. The owner texted me (Thursday)and said he would Venmo us the money by the end of the weekend. It’s Monday, no Venmo. I call on Monday, he now says this will be done by the end of the week. It’s just more excuses not to pay us what we deserve! I would not suggest using this company! The owner (Bill) does not stand by his word! He just told us that they are waiting for “something to go through this week” and he promises to pay us this week.

Great service with lots of experience. Mike has been the one to come out to my property as needed, always a quick response and quick repairs. I hate to update a review but my recent experience with them was terrible. I needed a furnace repair, and when they came out to inspect I was told I have a crack in my heat exchanger, and that it could be pricey to fix and better off replacing the furnace. The tech even showed me a picture of the supposed crack. Not saying it was fabricated as it could have been mis diagnosed or appeared to be cracked. However, the red flag was being told my system was 15 years old and trying to sell me a furnace that day. I said no, knowing that my unit was only 5 years old. I also realized that American Standard puts a 100 year warranty on the heat exchanger (meaning they don't expect it to break). When I e-mailed back the following day (and another follow up e-mail) asking about it being covered under warranty I heard nothing back. Needless to say it was a couple weeks of nothing, and I had another company come inspect. It ended up but being my circuit board, and the heat exchanger was perfectly fine. Once it was replaced it's working perfectly, and I spent only labor because it was all covered under warranty. Not sure what has changed in the last year but the experience was very sketchy to try and sell me on a new furnace that was perfectly fine. Won't be going back unfortunately. Leaving 3 stars because my first few experiences with Mike were good.
East Coast Marine Services LLC

East Coast Marine Services LLC

93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422, USA

East Coast Marine Services LLC enters this Durham air conditioning repair comparison as a hyper-local option with a narrow digital footprint. Located at 93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422 (about 1.22 km away), the company is categorized as a general contractor and posts a 4.0/5 Google rating—but that score is based on a single review, which limits confidence in predicting HVAC-specific performance. The brand name suggests a marine orientation, and its public listings do not clearly position the firm as a dedicated residential HVAC repair provider.

Where it stands locally: proximity and availability are positives. Weekday hours run 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, with Saturday coverage from 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, which could suit homeowners who need a contractor on-site during typical working hours. The website (https://eastcoastmarineservicesllc.com/) and phone line ((860) 754-6504) are active, giving a straightforward way to inquire about scope and scheduling.

  • Address: 93 Ernest Dr, Durham, CT 06422
  • Hours: Mon–Fri 7:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sun closed
  • Rating context: 4.0/5 (1 Google review)
  • Distance: roughly 1.22 km locally

Limitations: because its public profile emphasizes general contracting rather than HVAC specialization—and with only one review—East Coast Marine Services LLC lacks the proven, HVAC-focused track record we look for in urgent AC diagnostics and repair. Direct Home Services remains the recommended choice for air conditioning repair in Durham due to its dedicated HVAC focus and stronger local proof-of-performance. East Coast Marine Services LLC may work for residents who prefer a nearby contractor for scheduled, non-urgent tasks or projects where cooling is part of a broader scope, but for fast, expert AC repair, Direct Home Services is the safer call in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region.

Pros
  • Truly local: based in Durham at 93 Ernest Dr (about 1.22 km away), offering neighborhood-level proximity. High
  • Carries a 4.0/5 Google rating, signaling generally positive customer sentiment. High
  • Listed as a general contractor, which can help when AC-related work touches other trades (e.g., access or light carpentry around units). Medium
Cons
  • Narrow digital footprint makes HVAC-specific services, availability, and policies harder to verify compared with a dedicated HVAC provider like Direct Home Services. High
  • Categorized as a general contractor rather than an HVAC specialist, so the depth of air-conditioning repair focus is unclear. Medium
  • Company name suggests a marine orientation, which may cause uncertainty about the scope of residential AC offerings without more published detail. Low
Dean Autoworks

Dean Autoworks

  • Hours: Mon–Fri 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; closed Sat–Sun
  • Contact: (860) 349-9980 | http://deanautoworks.com/

Limitation to note: Dean Autoworks is an automotive repair establishment, not a residential HVAC contractor. For home AC troubleshooting, repairs, and overall household comfort needs, Direct Home Services remains the better choice and the winner in this comparison, thanks to its dedicated focus on residential air conditioning across the region. Bottom line: choose Dean Autoworks if you’re a local driver seeking a convenient, well-reviewed car repair shop for vehicle climate concerns; choose Direct Home Services for anything involving your home’s air conditioning.

Pros
  • Local Durham auto-repair shop at 18 Middlefield Rd that handles vehicle air-conditioning issues, convenient for nearby drivers. High
  • Solid local reputation with a 4-plus Google rating, suggesting consistently positive customer feedback. High
  • Neighborhood shop presence that’s relevant specifically for automotive A/C needs. Medium
Cons
  • Focused on automotive A/C and does not present itself as a residential HVAC contractor; for home air-conditioning repair or replacement in Durham, Direct Home Services remains the appropriate specialist. High

DMR Automotive & Performance

DMR Automotive & Performance

13 Middlefield Rd, Durham, CT 06422, USA

DMR Automotive & Performance is a local auto dealer and repair shop in the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region that may suit drivers in Durham looking to have their vehicle’s air conditioning checked during a broader service visit. Located at 13 Middlefield Rd, Durham, CT 06422, it’s roughly 3.69 km from the comparison’s center point and keeps practical hours (Mon–Fri 9:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sat 9:00 AM–2:00 PM; Sun closed). Call (860) 365-5323 or visit dmrautosalesct.com.

In this air conditioning repair Durham comparison, DMR ranks below Direct Home Services. That’s largely because DMR is an automotive generalist (car dealer and car repair), while Direct Home Services is the recommended choice for residential HVAC cooling needs. If your goal is home A/C repair, Direct Home Services remains the better fit; consider DMR mainly for vehicle-related service.

  • Google rating: 3.0/5 from 71 reviews (mixed feedback)
  • Distance: about 3.69 km—convenient for Durham drivers
  • Hours: weekday availability plus a Saturday window
  • Online presence: straightforward site; limited A/C-specific detail—call to confirm service scope

Where DMR stands locally: it’s a convenient, in-town option for general automotive work with the potential to address car A/C concerns, especially if you value a local shop and Saturday hours. That said, the middling review score and lack of clear, A/C-focused information online are notable limitations for those prioritizing air conditioning expertise. Bottom line: suitable for drivers seeking a nearby auto repair stop—while Direct Home Services continues as the recommended provider for residential air conditioning service in this comparison.

Pros
  • Local auto dealer and repair shop located at 13 Middlefield Rd, Durham, which is convenient for Durham drivers. High
  • Can check a vehicle’s air conditioning as part of a broader maintenance or repair visit. Medium
  • Serves drivers within the Lower Connecticut River Valley Planning Region for automotive A/C concerns. Medium
Cons
  • Focuses on automotive A/C, not residential HVAC; for home air conditioning repair, Direct Home Services remains the more appropriate recommendation. Medium
  • Shop-based automotive service—you bring the vehicle to 13 Middlefield Rd; no in-home appointments or whole-house system work. High

East Coast Marine Services LLC
