METHODS OF DISINFECTION OF SURFACES AND ROOMS
In the era of the declining wave of the COVID-19 coronavirus, we are defrosting the economy and opening more offices, salons and other public places. However, caution against infection and the strict recommendations of the Ministry of Health regarding the disinfection of rooms and surfaces mean that we have more and more questions about disinfection methods.
The COVID-19 virus can survive from two hours to nine days on surfaces such as a door handle or table, so we cannot count on it disappearing by itself after a patient. Of course, its lifespan depends on many factors: temperature, air humidity, but in extreme cases, some coronaviruses can survive up to 28 days, so it is worth taking care of effective disinfection.
Disinfection with biocides
This is perhaps the most popular and most accessible method of disinfecting surfaces. With preparations, usually alcohol-based, we rub objects that the customer may have come into contact with in order to destroy microorganisms. It should be noted that the alcohol concentration in the disinfecting agent is appropriate (approx. 70%), because both too high and too low will be ineffective. Such disinfecting preparations are available in many variants - sprays, concentrates, ready-made liquids, or wet wipes for wiping the surface. When deciding on this form of disinfection, remember not to miss any surface, viruses settle on many elements, such as switches, door handles, handrails, handles, chair backs and many others.
Disinfection of premises by ozonation
Ozone is a type of oxygen with three-atomic molecules that exhibits disinfecting properties. It has been proven that in the right concentration ozone destroys viruses, fungi, bacteria, mold, allergens, mites, and even removes unpleasant odors. Whole rooms are subjected to ozonation, which should be tightly closed and out of service for the duration of the treatment. There must be no people, animals or plants in the rooms at that time, as high ozone concentration is harmful to all organisms. In the case of humans, it may cause blindness, irritation of the respiratory system and even irreversible changes in the lungs. We obtain ozone by means of a special ozone generator - a device which, when activated, produces electrical discharges that transform oxygen into ozone. There are many ozone generators on the market that we can buy on our own, but it is recommended that the device be operated by a properly trained person. If we decide to disinfect by ozone treatment, it is worth using the services of specialized companies. Jet is definitely a safer solution, because professionals will select the appropriate duration of disinfection, which can be from several hours to several dozen, and will safely carry out the disinfection. After ozonation, the room should not be used for a few more hours. It takes time for ozone molecules to decompose back into oxygen molecules so that the room is safe for us again.
